The classic energy bar is a sweet-tasting bar. At Baouw, experience and science are at the heart of product development. That's why we've come up with six recipes for bars and purées with Guérande salt and vegetables. But what are the real benefits of Baouw's savoury energy products? 

1. Meeting physiological mineral requirements

Physiologically, over time, your need for minerals (sodium in particular) will increase. After 5 to 6 hours of effort, perspiration and regular water intake can lead to a significant drop in sodium in your body, which further accelerates the need for water: a dangerous vicious circle can set in!

It's worth noting that during ultra-endurance events in summer conditions, almost a third of competitors give up as a result of hyponatremia (a drop in plasma sodium concentration caused by excess water). So rather than simply adding sodium, as is the case with many preparations dedicated to exercise, we have designed very tasty products, originally salted. These are real ‘little dishes’ in bar form, based on vegetables, to which we've added oilseeds, extra virgin olive oil and a little Guérande sea salt, just like any good little dish. Just the right amount for your body. And your taste buds. We chose this salt because it is unrefined and contains all the minerals present in your body in physiological proportions (in addition to sodium).

To sum up, we've taken the Baouwers' opinions into account to optimise our bars and purées, so that the texture is as pleasant and easy to digest as it is surprising, thanks to the combination of quality ingredients!

3. Avoid sweet saturation

Endurance sportsmen and women and/or long-distance athletes are all familiar with the feeling of being sick, thirsty or saturated by anything sweet.

Turning to savoury products provides a solution to this problem by breaking down the unpleasant taste that lingers in your head... and in your stomach during your effort.
